Husaberg FE550 2008 Parts & Accessories

Husaberg was founded in Sweden in 1988 by a team of former Husqvarna engineers who chose to stay in Sweden after Cagiva acquired Husqvarna and moved production to Italy. Led by Thomas Gustavsson, the new company set out to build high-performance, lightweight four-stroke off-road racing motorcycles at a time when two-strokes dominated the market. Their early motto, "Ready to Race," reflected this hyper-focused competition ethos (a slogan KTM later adopted as its own).

Despite early reliability issues caused by the absence of an oil pump in original engines, Husaberg built a dedicated global following. KTM acquired the company in 1995, initially leaving R&D in Sweden while handling manufacturing in Austria. In 2009, Husaberg introduced its famous 70-degree slanted-engine architecture, rotating the engine to place the crankshaft higher and closer to the bike's center of gravity for improved mass centralization. By 2013, KTM integrated Husaberg back into Husqvarna, ending the Husaberg brand name after the 2014 model year.

Husaberg used a simple prefix system across its model range:

• F: Four-Stroke engine
• T: Two-Stroke engine
• E: Enduro (road-legal off-road)
• X: Cross-Country / Motocross (closed-course)
• C: Pure Motocross
• S: Supermoto (street/tarmac tires, larger front brake)
• e suffix: Equipped with electric start (e.g., FE 650e)

• FE 250 / FE 350 / FE 390: Lightweight, nimble middleweight enduros offering smooth power delivery and tight single-track maneuverability. The FE 390 featured the iconic 70° engine layout from 2010 to 2012.
• FE 400 / FE 450: The cornerstone 450 cc class enduro models. Known for strong midrange torque and wide usability across trail riding and cross-country racing.
• FE 501 / FE 550 / FE 570: Open-class, heavy-hitting enduros built for high-speed desert, trail, and rally riding. The FE 570 (2009–2012) was famous for its raw power and mass-centralized 70° engine layout.
• FE 600 / FE 650: Open-displacement, high-compression dual-sport/enduro weapons produced until 2008, delivering massive low-end torque and high top speeds.

• TE 125 / TE 250 / TE 300 (2011–2014): Introduced after KTM's full integration, these light two-stroke machines featured high-capacity fuel tanks, translucent bodywork, WP suspension, and electric start (on the 250/300 models).

• FS 400 / FS 450 / FS 550 / FS 570 / FS 650: Factory supermotos equipped with 17-inch street wheels, radial front brake calipers, stiffer WP suspension, and wide rear rims. The FS 650e was legendary in street and track-day circles for its exceptional power-to-weight ratio.

• FX 450 / FX 470 / FX 650: Off-road cross-country models featuring 19-inch rear wheels, closed-course gear ratios, no headlight or tail light assemblies, and aggressive suspension valving.
• FC 450 / FC 470 / FC 501 / FC 550 / FC 600: Pure motocross variants from the brand's early era, designed with stripped-down weight, kickstart-only setups (on earlier variants), and four-speed or six-speed track-focused transmissions.
