Suzuki GSX-R1100 1992 Parts & Accessories
First introduced in 1986 as the open-class flagship sibling to the GSX-R750, the Suzuki GSX-R1100 pioneered the superbike arms race of the late 1980s and 1990s. Combining a race-derived aluminum frame with massive power, the GSX-R1100 transformed over its 13-year production run from a lightweight track-bred weapon into an ultra-fast, high-speed sport touring heavyweight before being succeeded by the GSX-R1000 in 2001.
MAJOR GENERATIONAL MILESTONES
- 1986–1988 (First Gen - G/H/J "Slabby"): Debuted with an air/oil-cooled 1,052 cc SACS engine outputting 130 HP, computer-analyzed aluminum box-section frame, NEAS anti-dive forks, and 18-inch wheels at a groundbreaking dry weight of just 197 kg (434 lbs).
- 1989–1990 (Second Gen - K/L "Slingshot"): Full overhaul increasing displacement to 1,127 cc (143 HP), introducing Mikuni "Slingshot" carburetors, a 25% stiffer aluminum frame, 17-inch alloy wheels, dual exhaust silencers, and inverted (USD) Showa forks (1990 L-model).
- 1991–1992 (Third Gen - M/N): Aerodynamic cosmetic update featuring dual headlights under a single flush lens, a longer wheelbase for improved high-speed stability, and a larger 40 mm carburetor setup.
- 1993–1994 (Fourth Gen - WP/WR "Water-Cooled"): Transition to liquid cooling (1,074 cc) producing 155 HP, accompanied by a stiffer double-cradle aluminum frame, asymmetric "banana" swingarm, and heavier overall chassis construction.
- 1995–1998 (Fifth Gen - WS/WT/WV): Final iteration focused on weight reduction (down to 221 kg dry), refined aerodynamics, race-braced swingarm, upgraded 43 mm USD forks, and smoother mid-range torque delivery before production ended.
