Suzuki GSX-R600 2005 Parts & Accessories
Introduced in 1992, the Suzuki GSX-R600 debuted as a sleeved-down derivative of the liquid-cooled GSX-R750, utilizing the same heavy double-cradle aluminum frame. After a brief hiatus, Suzuki completely resurrected the model for the 1997 model year as the GSX-R600 SRAD (Suzuki Ram Air Direct), built around a brand-new ultra-compact perimeter frame and high-rpm 599 cc inline-four engine. The platform underwent continuous competitive refinement across subsequent generations: introducing electronic fuel injection with dual throttle valves (SDTV) in 2001 (K1), radial-mount front brakes and inverted forks in 2004 (K4), an under-engine exhaust with stacked gearbox shafts in 2006 (K6), and Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (S-DMS) variable engine mapping in 2008 (K8).
MAJOR GENERATIONAL MILESTONES
- 1992–1993: Initial launch utilizing a modified, sleeved-down GSX-R750 frame and liquid-cooled engine block.
- 1997–2000 (SRAD): Ground-up redesign introducing Suzuki Ram Air Direct (SRAD) induction, lightweight aluminum perimeter frame, and carburetors.
- 2001–2003 (K1–K3): Introduction of Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) with Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) and a lighter, sharper chassis.
- 2004–2005 (K4–K5): Inverted front forks, titanium valves, radial-mounted front brake calipers, and a redesigned frame layout.
- 2006–2007 (K6–K7): All-new high-revving engine layout with stacked transmission shafts, under-belly exhaust, and improved aerodynamics.
- 2008–2010 (K8–L0): Introduction of Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (S-DMS) power mapping, electronically controlled steering damper, and triple-headlight styling.
- 2011–Present (L1+):** Comprehensive redesign cutting 9 kg (20 lbs), adding Showa Big Piston Forks (BPF) and Brembo monobloc front calipers.

- Induction System: Four 36 mm Mikuni carburetors (1992–2000) or Keihin/Mikuni Electronic Fuel Injection with SDTV dual throttle valves and Ram Air intake ducts
- Chassis Architecture: Twin-spar aluminum alloy perimeter frame with cast/extruded aluminum swingarm
- Front Suspension: 41 mm/43 mm conventional or inverted (USD) Showa telescopic cartridge forks, fully adjustable for spring preload, compression, and rebound damping
- Rear Suspension: Link-type single Showa piggyback shock absorber, fully adjustable for high/low-speed compression, rebound damping, and spring preload
- Braking System: Dual 290 mm to 310 mm hydraulic front disc brakes with Tokico 4-piston radial-mount calipers and single 220 mm rear hydraulic disc brake
- Transmission & Drivetrain: Close-ratio 6-speed constant-mesh manual transmission with back-torque limiting slipper clutch (2006+) and 525 chain final drive
- Wheels & Tires: 120/70-ZR17 front and 180/55-ZR17 rear tubeless radial sport tires on 3-spoke cast aluminum alloy rims
- Dimensions & Mass: 810 mm to 830 mm (31.9–32.7 in) seat height; dry weight ranging from 174 kg (383 lbs) (1997 SRAD) down to 161 kg (355 lbs) (2006 K6)
Redesigned from the ground up for the 2011 model year (L1 generation), the modern Suzuki GSX-R600 achieved a massive 9 kg (20 lbs) overall weight reduction through a completely re-engineered chassis, lighter engine internals, and streamlined bodywork. Featuring a shorter wheelbase with a longer swingarm for enhanced track agility, the L1 platform incorporated Showa Big Piston Front Forks (BPF) for improved front-end feedback during heavy braking, high-grade Brembo monobloc radial front calipers, revised gear ratios, and an updated S-DMS system. Continuing in production through the present day, the modern GSX-R600 remains one of the premier supersport benchmark machines in global road racing and track-day competition.
