Suzuki SV650S 1999 Parts & Accessories
First introduced in 1999 as a lightweight, accessible middleweight naked and semi-faired street motorcycle, the Suzuki SV650 achieved instant cult status due to its lively 90-degree V-twin engine, nimble handling, and exceptional value. Spanning three major structural generations—from the original aluminum-framed "Curvy" models to the sharper aluminum die-cast "Pointy" frame models (and the SFV650 Gladius interlude), to the modern steel-trellis iteration—the SV650 became a dominant staple in commuter garages, track-day paddocks, and Lightweight Twin racing series worldwide.
MAJOR GENERATIONAL MILESTONES
- 1999–2002 (First Generation - "Curvy" / Gen 1): Unveiled in naked (SV650) and half-faired (SV650S) variants featuring a distinctive tubular aluminum truss frame, dual Mikuni carburetors, and a lively 645 cc liquid-cooled 90° V-twin engine.
- 2003–2008 (Second Generation - "Pointy" / Gen 2): Complete chassis overhaul adopting a pressure-cast aluminum vacuum-molded frame, electronic fuel injection with Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV), digital instrument cluster, LED taillights, and optional ABS (2007+).
- 2009–2015 (SFV650 Gladius Interlude): Platform evolved into the SFV650 Gladius featuring updated dual-spark cylinder heads, a steel-trellis frame, and fluid streetfighter styling.
- 2017–Present (Third Generation - Gen 3): Return to the classic SV650 badge with over 60 new engine components, a slim steel-trellis frame, Suzuki Easy Start System, Low RPM Assist, revised chassis geometry, and a café-racer inspired variant (SV650X).

Redesigned for the 2017 model year, the modern third-generation Suzuki SV650 shed weight and narrowed its profile by replacing the previous cast unit with a high-strength steel-trellis main frame. Retaining the celebrated 645 cc 90-degree engine, Suzuki engineers implemented dual spark plug cylinder heads, resin-coated piston skirts, and fine-spray 10-hole fuel injectors to boost fuel efficiency and meet global emissions standards without sacrificing peak output. Outfitted with rider-friendly electronic aids like Low RPM Assist and Suzuki Easy Start, the modern SV650 (and its clip-on handlebar café sibling, the SV650X) remains one of the most durable and universally recommended streetbikes in motorcycle history.
