Introduced in 1986 as the successor to the FJ1100, the Yamaha FJ1200 refined Yamaha's premier sport-touring platform into an all-time classic long-distance powerhouse. Driven by an air-and-oil-cooled 1,188 cc inline-four engine, it delivered broad low-to-midrange torque alongside an impressive top-end output of up to 130 horsepower. Built around a steel twin-spar perimeter frame, the FJ1200 was designed for effortless high-speed continent-crossing comfort, incorporating a wide aerodynamic fairing, relaxed upright ergonomics, and advanced options for its era, including an early Anti-Lock Braking System (FJ1200A) introduced in later generations.
