Introduced in 1984 as the world's first production 500 cc two-stroke V4 sportbike, the Yamaha RZ500 (sold as the RD500LC in Europe and Australia) brought authentic Grand Prix technology straight to the street. Inspired directly by Kenny Roberts' YZR500 World Championship race bike, it featured a unique 50-degree twin-crankshaft V4 engine equipped with Yamaha's Power Valve System (YPVS). Packed with race-derived chassis components like anti-dive front forks and a underslung rear monoshock, the RZ500 remains a legendary hallmark of 1980s high-performance two-stroke engineering.
