Produced from 1980 through 1985 (and continuing production in select markets like Spain into the early 2000s), the Yamaha SR250 (Exciter) served as an economical, lightweight single-cylinder street motorcycle. Styled with soft cruiser cues—including a stepped seat, pullback handlebars, and a tear-drop fuel tank—the SR250 was engineered for ultra-reliable daily commuting and low-maintenance operation. Powered by an air-cooled 249 cc SOHC four-stroke engine paired with a steel diamond frame, its mechanical simplicity and accessible chassis geometry made it a popular urban runabout and a favored platform for custom cafe racer and tracker builds in later years.
