Introduced in 1985 as a direct descendant of Yamaha's factory Grand Prix racing machines, the Yamaha TZR250 set a new benchmark for 2-stroke 250 cc replica road racers. Built around Yamaha's lightweight aluminum Deltabox chassis—a first for a production 250—it combined razor-sharp handling with high-revving output. Evolving through parallel-twin layout revisions and culminating in the V-twin 3XV series, the TZR250 featured the Yamaha Power Valve System (YPVS) and premium chassis hardware, establishing a formidable legacy on both the circuit and the street.
