First introduced in 1974, the Yamaha YZ125 holds the distinction of being the longest continuously produced motocross motorcycle in the world. Renowned for its ultra-lightweight chassis, exceptional handling dynamics, and broad two-stroke powerband, the YZ125 has served as a cornerstone of motocross racing and rider development across five decades. Over its long production lifespan, it pioneered several major motocross advancements, including the debut of single-shock Monocross rear suspension in 1975, liquid cooling in 1981, the Yamaha Power Valve System (YPVS) in 1982, aluminum bilateral beam frames in 2005, and comprehensive modern redesigns featuring Keihin PowerJet carburetion and revised bodywork ergonomics.
