First introduced in 2016, the Yamaha YZ250X is a dedicated two-stroke cross-country and GNCC competition motorcycle engineered to bring the performance of Yamaha’s legendary YZ250 platform into the woods. Developed specifically for off-road racing, the YZ250X features tailored engine optimizations, including a revised compression ratio, modified YPVS power valve timing, off-road CDI ignition mapping, and a wide-ratio 5-speed transmission. Complete with an 18-inch rear wheel, off-road-valved KYB suspension, a side stand, reserve fuel petcock, and a sealed O-ring chain, it offers smooth, tractable low-end power combined with world-class chassis agility for technical trail terrain.

• 249 cc liquid-cooled reed-valve 2-stroke single-cylinder engine with cross-country tuned YPVS (Yamaha Power Valve System) producing approx. 48 HP @ 8,500 RPM
• 38 mm Keihin PWK38S flat-slide carburetor with Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and digital CDI ignition
• Aluminum bilateral beam frame with lightweight detachable aluminum subframe
• 48 mm KYB Speed-Sensitive System (SSS) inverted coil-spring front forks with off-road specific damping providing 300 mm (11.8 in) wheel travel
• Fully adjustable KYB rear monoshock with Link Monocross linkage providing 315 mm (12.4 in) wheel travel
• 270 mm hydraulic wave-type single front disc brake and 240 mm hydraulic wave-type single rear disc brake
• 5-speed wide-ratio manual transmission with heavy-duty multi-plate wet clutch
