Yamaha YZF1000R THUNDERACE 1996 Parts & Accessories

Produced from 1996 through 2003, the Yamaha YZF1000R Thunderace was a open-class sport motorcycle created to bridge the gap between the outgoing FZR1000 and the ground-breaking YZF-R1. Powered by a heavily revised liquid-cooled 1,002 cc DOHC 20-valve Genesis inline-four engine featuring lightweight internal components and Yamaha's EXUP exhaust valve system, it produced 145 horsepower. Built upon a modified aluminum Deltabox perimeter chassis derived directly from the YZF750R, the Thunderace paired massive engine output with nimble chassis geometry. It was notable for introducing Yamaha's revolutionary Sumitomo monobloc four-piston "Blue Spot" front brake calipers and featured exceptionally aerodynamic bodywork (0.29 Cd). Though succeeded in raw track performance by the lighter YZF-R1 in 1998, the YZF1000R remained widely revered as a supreme, long-distance fast-touring superbike.

• Dual 298 mm floating front hydraulic disc brakes with Sumitomo 4-piston monobloc calipers and single 245 mm rear hydraulic disc brake
• 5-speed manual transmission with wet multi-plate clutch and chain final drive
• 17-inch front (120/70 ZR17) and 17-inch rear (180/55 ZR17) cast alloy wheels
• 19-litre (5.0 US gal) fuel tank capacity
